In detail

Long-term investment in companies, technology and property

ARK’s investment practice deploys its own capital with a long horizon: stakes in companies and technology startups, real estate and hospitality investment, and short-term tactical positions run under strict risk rules.

We are not a fund manager and we do not market investment products to the public. We invest our own balance sheet and, on specific deals, do so alongside qualified partners who understand and accept the risks.

Where we invest

Companies and startups where we can add more than money, especially in technology; residential, mixed-use and hospitality real estate; and short-term positions with clear entry, exit and sizing rules.

Real estate investment and co-investment

Much of our long-term investment is tied to real assets. Through our real estate practice and Averton Hotels & Resorts we take part in acquisitions, developments and hotel conversions, and on some of them we open co-investment to partners.

Co-investment means investing in the same deal, on the same terms as the group, with access to the information, business plan and reporting. Every partner should assess the deal with their own advisers.

How we make investment decisions

Every decision follows a disciplined process: a written investment thesis, a financial model with conservative scenarios, independent due diligence, risk and liquidity analysis, and partner approval. If a deal fails the process, it doesn’t happen.

After investing we stay actively involved: regular, transparent reporting, ongoing review of assumptions and exit plans defined from day one.

We diversify across asset classes, horizons and sectors, and size every position according to its risk and liquidity. For short-term positions we decide in advance how much we are prepared to lose and when to exit, and we stick to those rules even when the market tempts us to improvise.

Risk and transparency

Investing carries risk, including the loss of some or all of the capital invested. Past performance is no guide to future returns, and investments in private companies or property can be illiquid for years. Nothing we publish is personalised financial advice or an offer to invest.

Why invest alongside ARK

We are a group that builds: software, digital products, property and hotels. When we back a startup, we can help with engineering, product or international expansion. When we invest in a building, our 3D practice visualises it, our real estate team develops it and Averton can operate it.

For founders, that can mean a partner who helps rebuild the architecture before a growth phase or opens doors to customers in other markets. For co-investors, it means deals where the group has done the groundwork and has its own capital at stake on the same terms.

For portfolio companies expanding abroad, we can also form their US or UK entity and audit their systems before they scale. That operating capability is what sets our capital apart.
